In this video from Hannah Pustejovsky called “The Pain Game: Why Endometriosis Sucks,” Hannah debunks three common myths about endometriosis.
The first myth she tackles is that women are “too young to have endometriosis,” explaining that sufferers are often told that only women in their 30s or 40s have the disease. Hannah then moves on to the idea that women are “imagining or exaggerating their symptoms”; symptoms that are often dismissed by doctors for years before patients get properly diagnosed. Finally, Hannah dispells the myth that it’s somehow the woman’s fault that she has the condition (that it’s brought on by having sex too early, having an abortion, etc…which it’s not).
